Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum

A few interesting facts about Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury's name is derived from Old English Scrobbesburh, and its subsequent Welsh name Amwythig means "fortified place". Shrewsbury has evolved from the founding Saxons, through Tudor developments and is now home to over 660 listed buildings. Speaking of evolution, Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Darwin, who’s statue sits proud outside his old school which is now the Shrewsbury Library.

Shrewsbury showcases a fantastic selection of landmarks and attractions including Shrewsbury Castle, a red sandstone castle fortification founded in 1074. Housed inside the walls is the Museum of the Shropshire Regiments, which is dedicated to the King's Shropshire Light Infantry.

Shrewsbury Abbey, a former Benedictine monastery, was founded in 1083 by the Norman Earl of Shrewsbury, Roger de Montgomery. The Abbey has been welcoming pilgrims since the eleventh century and sits proudly just outside the loop of the River Severn. It is still a place of worship today and well worth a visit.
Also check out the Quantum Leap sculpture on the riverbank opposite the Theatre Severn, which was created to mark Darwin's 200th birthday.

In the Quarry, Shrewsbury also hosts one of the oldest and largest horticultural events in the country, Shrewsbury Flower Show. This fantastic event draws visitors from across the country, having won various awards since the turn of the 21st century, including Britain in Bloom in 2006.
