The Coach is a traditional English pub/restaurant serving freshly prepared seasonal dishes, real ales and great wine.

Victorian in style, the pub has a wood-panelled bar, a small side snug area and a large lounge where meals are served. There is always a wide selection of local real ale. Our house ales are Salopian Oracle and Shropshire Gold and Stonehouse Station. We also offer two guest ales from local breweries!

The Coach and Horses is proud to partner with Zoom Food Group who deliver our fantastic meals straight to your door! Order from us online for delivery or call us on 01743 365 661 to place an order for collection.

Renowned for real ale and excellent food

Sat in a quiet street off the main shopping area, the Coach is peaceful haven for all.

According to local archives, our pub was first recorded in 1861 and up until the late 20th century had a 'men only' bar! It was then expanded down Cross Hill into our cosy and inviting restaurant. The Coach is proud to have been a very early entry in the Good Beer Guide back in 1975 and since then has been a regular entrant each year including 2020.

The Coach & Horses has consistently been featured in CAMRA’S Good Beer Guide. The Coach is now a wi-fi hot-spot, come in and connect to the internet for free. Don’t Forget you can smoke upstairs on the patio... Dogs are welcome in the Bar area.

Thursday Nights are Fish Nights!

Every Thursday our chefs create an exciting menu of fish dishes. For our non-fish lovers, we offer our À la Carte menu alongside the fish menu.

Pub Quiz - 1st Monday of every month - 8pm start.

The Coach is proud to boast an ex-MasterChef contestant, Mr. John Barton, as one of our fantastic chefs!

Our general manager is Mr. Dean Morris who has worked here since 1989, taking over the managerial position in 2002. Dean and his team hope you have an excellent experience at The Coach & Horses!

Fantastic food and service! We had the white bait and the black pudding & Stilton tower for starters, they were delicious. Especially the latter is such a great and inventive combination. Then we had the Sunday roast carvery (beef and turkey) which came with an abundance of fantastic veggies and potatoes. We loved it. We ended with the bread and butter pudding which was easiest the most honest and best over ever had. All the staff was very, very friendly and welcoming and we also enjoyed the selection of local brews. Very much recommended.
