Brompton Cookery School is owned and run by TV Chef Marcus Bean and his wife Jenny.

The cookery school is based in a beautiful barn conversion near Atcham Shrewsbury within a collection of original farm buildings. A spacious, purpose built farmhouse style kitchen allows for the tuition of 16 people at 4 large workstations. There’s also a chef’s demonstration area and lower workstation for a wheelchair user.

The cookery school also has a stylish dining room for you to savour the dishes you create and as one of the most well equipped cookery schools, attracts foodies and cooking enthusiasts from all over the UK for enjoyable and informative courses. Whats more is that across the original farm yard is the beautiful farmhouse bed & breakfast where you can really make your cookery experience one to remember.

A fabulous day cooking with Marcus & Phil yesterday, courtesy of Good Food magazine. Such nice people to chat to about food! The pork & mushroom risotto was delicious & thank you for showing us how to make the amazing chocolate fondant. I’m not sure I’d have ever braved making one myself otherwise! Might need to work on my quenelles though!

Did the fish and shellfish course yeaterday. It was outstanding! I come away with simple techniques and advice that I can apply straight away with my normal day to day cooking. The lunch (that I made) is something I would happily pay for in a restaurant and I left with lots of fish fillets for dinner. I would recommend this course for anyone wanting to learn how to prepare and cook fish properly!

Brompton Cookery School is a rare gem. Marcus and Jenny run fabulous cooking courses suitable for adults and children. My niece and nephew have just attended their 3rd visit and still want to go back for more! Ted said Marcus cooked the best steak he’d ever tasted, he won’t tell us the secret so we all need to go! Brilliant place.

My son went to the full day junior course today and had the most amazing time. He learnt to cook some amazing food and not only did he cook them but he learnt about techniques and the food he was preparing and come back with so much knowledge. I’ve just eaten what he made for tea and it was lovely. Highly recommended, will be back again for sure!
