New Inn is a family run establishment with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Our food is freshly cooked to order - we don’t do fast food, we do good food as fast as we can! We are fully compliant with allergies or intolerance requirements. It is always best to book in advance and to discuss any special dietary requirements.

History of the New Inn

The New Inn celebrated 103 years of being owned and run by the Hunter family on March 25th 2018.

Robert Hunter and his wife Susan purchased the pub as a licensed beer-house & smallholding with 6 acres of land. Moving in on March 25th 1915, their days were long as they had to brew their own beer, milk their cows, deliver the milk daily to the villagers and run the pub lunchtime and evening. In addition they had 3 children to look after; William (8), Gwendoline (5) and Denis who was born October 1915.

Robert died in 1952 and Denis and his wife Joan took over running the pub. They had 2 children Nigel and Rod and Susan helped look after them. Denis now had sheep and also trained and raced greyhounds and, in his spare time, also cut the villagers hair!! Luckily by this time they purchased beer from a brewery rather than having to brew their own.

In 1982 Denis handed over the pub to Rod who installed a catering kitchen and turned a games room into a restaurant taking the pub into a new era. Sadly Rod passed away in May 2009 after nearly 28 years as landlord; he left the pub to Debbie Hunter his former wife. Debbie has worked at the New Inn for 32 years and says although "she is only a Hunter through marriage, no-one could respect the history of this pub or love it more" and of course, it still means there has been a licensee by the name of Hunter at the New Inn for a century!!

The New Inn is now run by Debbie Hunter, Martin Davies and his son Tom Davies.
