Welcome to Shrewsbury High School. We are a vibrant, independent day school, situated in the heart of Shrewsbury, on the banks of the river Severn, educating girls from 4 – 18 and boys from 4 - 13. At Shrewsbury High School (SHS) we place our pupils at the heart of everything we do. Individuals matter at SHS. Each pupil is supported and challenged to aim high within the safety of our collaborative and close knit community.
As one of the leading independent schools in Shropshire - the best-performing girls’ school at A-level and the best school overall at GCSE - many of our Prep and Senior pupils come from Telford, Oswestry, Whitchurch and other surrounding towns. We have our own bus system that operates around the region bringing students in from across Shropshire and beyond.

Whilst we have a long tradition of getting the best possible results for our pupils, we believe an excellent education is about so much more than just exams.
We believe in a truly holistic education which seeks to develop the whole child and so we offer outstanding sport, music, art, drama and broad enrichment opportunities to help our pupils develop lifelong skills which will enable them to thrive in the modern world and develop a sense of adventure.
Shrewsbury High School is no ordinary school and whilst this website might give you some sense of what makes us unique you really need to visit the school and meet our pupils in order to discover why we are so different from other schools in Shropshire.
